Protect your school data
Why Backup?
Regular backups protect your school data from:
- Hardware failures
- Accidental deletion
- Computer crashes
- Ransomware or malware
Local Backup
Creating a Backup
- Go to Settings → Backup & Restore
- Click "Create Backup"
- Choose a location (Desktop, USB drive, or any folder)
- Click "Save"
The backup file will be saved with a .smpbackup extension and includes a timestamp.
Backup to USB Drive
- Insert your USB drive
- Go to Settings → Backup & Restore
- Click "Create Backup"
- Navigate to your USB drive and save
Tip: Keep multiple backup copies in different locations.
Restoring from Backup
⚠️ Warning: Restoring a backup will overwrite all current data. Make sure you
have a backup of your current data before restoring.
- Go to Settings → Backup & Restore
- Click "Restore Backup"
- Select your backup file (
.smpbackup) - Confirm the restore operation
- Wait for the process to complete
- The app will restart automatically
Backup Best Practices
- Daily backups - Set a reminder to backup daily
- Multiple copies - Keep backups in at least 2 locations
- Off-site storage - Use Google Drive backup for extra protection
- Test restores - Occasionally verify your backups work
